Your data

It lives on your Mac. That is the entire policy, and there is no small print under it.

No account, no server

Nothing to sign into, nothing to go down, nothing to change its terms on a Tuesday. There is no server, so there is nothing to breach.

Export whenever

Settings, then Data, then Export. One JSON file with everything you have typed, yours to keep somewhere else.

Clearing takes a backup first

Automatically, before it deletes anything, and it abandons the whole thing if that backup fails. There is no undo, so this is the net.

Photos are the one exception: they are not in the export yet, which is on the list.
